Personal beliefs on fly fishing

No matter how you choose to fish, the most important thing is to have fun and respect your sport and the environment.

Species you specialize in

Trout and Bass

Preferred fishing method

I enjoy employing all of the disciplines but my favorite is fishing small flies with light tippets to big trout on flat water.

Favorite RIO Line

Depending on the rod it is a tie between RIO Grand and RIO Gold.

Why RIO

They are the finest performing lines I have ever fished- I never cease to be amazed at the incredible innovation and cutting edge technology that RIO brings to the fly fishing world.

Favorite Knot

5 turn Barrel

Special Rigging Techniques

I use Fluoroflex Plus 100% of the time when fishing streamers and nymph and when fishing dry flies with 5X or lighter tippet. 4X and heavier will sink the flies so I use Powerflex regular mono when fishing larger dry flies with 4X or heavier tippet.

Best Fly Fishing Tip

Use the highest quality equipment you can afford. Quality gear is more enjoyable to use and it will outperform cheap product. In my earlier life I would sometimes buy something because it was cheap and would end up hating it, getting rid of it and buy what I wanted to in the first place.
